judge neetu s. badhan-smith, is a superior court judge in los angeles county, appointed by governor brown in 2017.  she is a graduate of southwestern university school of law, class of 2002, and attended ucla for her undergraduate studies, receiving degrees in both anthropology and psychology.  after law school she was a staff attorney at the the housing rights center where she assisted clients in housing discrimination cases in both state and federal court.  she then worked as a deputy public defender in los angeles county, serving indigent clients for over 13 years.
