mansion 9: al-tarf *

the lessons of al-tarf advise us to pull back our attention from what no longer serves us.  to conserve our energy.  and also to forgive.  forgiveness is a misunderstood concept.  it’s often thought of as letting the wrong go unpunished, which oftentimes hurts us with an illusion of injustice. forgiveness does not discuss justice to the perpetrator of the wrong. forgiveness releases the innocent one from the continuation of the psychological repeated torture of the wrong inflicted. and the ironic kicker is that the sooner the innocent one forgives, the sooner the arc of justice can be released to swing down and deliver the balance for the wrong onto the perpetrator. so we can, with a sigh of relief, retreat from expending our precious reserves on those who never really cared for us. we owe ourselves letting go of all records of wrongs.
